Aquila is a competitive Trampoline Club with a growing community of some 70+ members. We formed in 2002 and offer both Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline to all ages, from 5 years to adult.
We are a competitive club and boast a wealth of coaching experience from level 1 assistant coach, to Level 5 High Performance Coach – something no other club in Swindon can offer! We encourage coaching mentoring programs and as a result, a number of our trampoline gymnasts are coaches themselves. Many of our coaches and officials are volunteers and we operate as a ‘not for profit’ organisation raising enough funds to purchase and maintain our own professional equipment with support from the school.
We provide classes for all levels of ability whether you’re completely new to trampoline gymnastics, or you compete at a National level. Members can start from age 5 and there is no upper age limit. Our recreational adult class is thriving with many competing.
Trampoline Gymnastics (which is just tramplining!)
Aquila is a competitive club (regional and National). Whilst competition is not compulsory, it is encouraged.
Beginners to intermediate with opportunities to compete at regional level.
The perfect start for beginners under 10 years, or for younger bouncers with a little experience. Working towards the badge awards which includes single skill elements though to competition routines. Leotards and gym shorts are encouraged, but shorts/leggings and a tight/fitted top is fine.
Beginners to advanced with regional and National competition encouraged.
Structured towards competing (friendly/regional/National), although competition is not mandatory. Strong skill and routine development from simple single somersaults to multi-twisting linked double somersaults. Leotards and gym shorts are mandatory and includes 1 week per term competition attire - leotard only (no shorts for the girls and whites for the boys).
Beginners to intermediate. Ideal platform for those starting at a slightly later age.
An ideal progression from juniors, or older beginners. Recreational classes are structured and coached to the same high standards, but aimed less at competition and more towards skill development. Leotards and gym shorts are encouraged, but shorts/leggings and a tight/fitted top is fine.
One of our most popular classes for complete beginners or those with some experience.
You’re never too young to start. You may have some experience from school, or perhaps you’re yet to take your first bounce. You might be very sporty, or are simply looking for a social sport; either way, this class is ideal. Coaching standards are the same and you’ll progress at your own pace. And no, you don’t have to wear a leotard!
If you’re interested, we encourage a free trial. Simply contact us, tell us a little about yourself/child and what classes you’re interested in.
Coaching is a skill in which qualified professionals enable others to teach themselves. It’s about installing confidence and helping individuals to realise their own potential. In many respects, coaching is both an art, and a science. Aquila is lucky to have a fantastic team of coaches and officials that really care about the individual.
Many of our coaches and officials are volunteers and we operate as a ‘not for profit’ organisation raising enough funds to purchase and maintain our own professional equipment with support from the school.
Health & Safety
We take the welfare of our members very seriously. All our coaches are fully qualified through British Gymnastics, and supported by our club Welfare Officer, Cheryl Gumieniak. All our coaches are Routinely DBS checked (formally CRB). As a club we adopt and follow the British Gymnastics Child Protection Policy and British Gymnastics Equity Policy, both of which can be found on the British Gymnastics Website
You can contact Cheryl either via the Contact form, or you can email directly: email@example.com.
We are fortunate to train out of the newly developed Swindon Academy. The facility includes a large purpose build gymnasium which is joined to the back of the main building. The gym has under-floor heating which is great for the cold winter months, and a very high ceiling with an over-head rig which we use for both trampoline and DMT.
When you arrive at the school there is plenty of free parking. Walk to the main entrance and into reception stating you’re with Aquila Trampoline Club. Once through the double doors, head straight through 3 sets of double doors until the corridor turns left into the main gym.
